A Gold Coast man suffering from epilepsy has recovered from a life saving operation, conducted while he was fully conscious.

Twenty-Five year old Ben Tondeleir has suffered from epilepsy since he was six years old, however thanks to a two-hour procedure at Brisbane’s Mater hospital in August, Ben has now been seizure free for over ten weeks.

Neurologist Doctor Lisa Gillinder outlined anxieties surrounding the risky procedure as anaesthesia could cause convulsions on the operating table, and despite the confronting nature of the procedure, described Mr Tondeleir as very brave.
