New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has committed to critically reducing emissions by half before 2030.

In a new statement released on Sunday, Ms Ardern and Climate Change Minister James Shaw announced that New Zealand will halve its greenhouse gas emission by 2030, ahead of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.

Ms Ardern says  “Climate change is a priority for the government because it's a threat to our economy, our environment and our everyday lives”.
