Queensland Police Service Officers showed up to Pride festivities in uniform despite Pride’s request for them not to do so.

A number of QPS workers and Corrective Service officers showed up to march in uniform, despite requests from Pride and the wider community not to have the presence of police within the space due to concerns about safety.

The request for police officers not to be in uniform was also followed by a statement signed by numerous community groups including Greens MP Amy McMahon and the Councillor for Gabba Jonathon Sri, which outlined the foundations of Pride as one of protest against police violence.
