Due to COVID19 restrictions only a few young Australian climate activists will be at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.

Among the few climate change activists Tishiko King, a Kulkalaig woman from Masig Island warns of the severe effects to First Nations communities especially the Torres Strait which has already been hit hard by rising sea levels, and biodiversity loss due to environmental changes in temperature as well as severe weather events.

This follows the government’s backing of coal prior to the climate change summit with Chris Littlecott, director with the policy institute E3G saying the position was quote “revealing Australia is tending to come in with an oppositional approach rather than a constructive approach”.
