World leaders have gathered in Glasgow for the COP26 conference and have begun talks to achieve net zero emissions. This conference follows the last round of climate talks in Rome over the weekend where the G20 economies failed to commit to a 2050 emissions target.

The first day of talks saw leaders discuss the divisions over western countries' failure to reach funding targets to help fund developing countries' climate transition costs.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has accepted it will be at least another two years before the funding goal is reached.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison acknowledged the need for more funding and announced Australia’s climate finance to the Pacific and south-east Asia to double to $2 billion.
