Turtle experts have said dense populations are a possible source for rise in injured turtles with an increase of injured turtles in the Moreton Bay area.

According to turtle experts, more than 150 turtles have come through Sea World veterinarians and Australia Zoo with injuries resulting from poor water quality, parasites, boat injuries as well as malnutrition.

Quandamooka Aboriginal Land and Sea Management Agency Manager Darren Burns says the sediment impact on water is now visible “all the way up to Peel island”, that higher numbers of vessels and pollution have had a tangible impact on humans and animals in the area.
