US President Joe Biden's plan to reopen a US consulate for Palestinians in Jerusalem has been rejected by Israel.

Palestinians, who want East Jerusalem as the capital of a future state, were outraged following former US president Donald Trump, closing the Jerusalem consulate and placing its staff within the US embassy to Israel in 2018.

Seeking to repair ties with Palestinians, the Biden administration launched a proposal to reopen the consulate.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett responded to Bidens proposal on Saturday afternoon, saying there is no room in Jerusalem for another American mission.
