Trials for touchless crossing buttons in Melbourne's CBD have proved successful, sparking international interest.

Melbourne businessman Con Liosatos saw the effects the pandemic had on the public and through his company, designed a crossing button that doesn't require any contact.

The revolutionary device means instead of pressing a button, you wave your hand across the front, setting off the infrared sensor which activates the red light allowing you to cross.

If the overall trials are successful, the Victorian Department of Transport will look to roll them out across thousands of crossings statewide.
