Queensland’s tourism and hospitality sector is facing large numbers of job vacancies ahead of the holiday season, with employers taking drastic action to fill these positions.
Simon McGrath, Chief Executive of Accor Pacific is looking at new ways of streamlining the hiring process for potential employees, including forgoing traditional resume submissions and instead opting for the possibility of on the spot hires.
Mr McGrath believes offering applicants an opportunity to interview for a position is beneficial to both parties, as it makes job listings more appealing to those lacking experience, and allows the employer to gauge the applicant more accurately on a first hand meeting instead of chasing up references.
