The teachers union has banned Victorian Labor MP’s from visiting school campuses amid pay disputes between teachers and the government.

The ongoing action includes new bans on NAPLAN online school readiness testing and education support staff undertaking duties during unpaid lunch breaks.

The Australian Education Union announced this week that their actions are designed to directly impact the state government and Department of Education and Training to shine a spotlight on the excessive workloads and hours of unpaid work being done by public school teachers, principles and education support staff.

Australian Education Union Branch president, Meredith Peace, said that the “Andrews Labor government has failed to properly address teachers' concerns and their salaries.”
