New South Wales Police have been reported to have rejected a plan to protect indigenous populations from COVID-19 outbreaks.

It was revealed to the ABC in a leaked email that New South Wales Deputy Police Commissioner Gary Worboys rejected a plan that would have matched federal emergency laws to enforce lockdown in vulnerable and remote communities, stating that the plan would be impossible to police.

States and territories including Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory have adopted biosecurity measures deeming particular communities vulnerable and a priority in the pandemic.
