The 45km highway will ultimately run from Nerang to Logan in order to ease congestion with construction set to begin in mid 2021.
State Transport minister Mark Bailey says, “the project will be shovel ready as soon as all environmental approvals are in place.”
However, costs linked to the pandemic induced construction boom has seen a $600 million cost blow out.
Negotiations remain between the state and federal government over who will pay for the excess.
