The new COVID-19 vaccination mandate for teachers and childcare workers is expected to cause further disruption to the education sector, despite the premier’s efforts to align with other states and territories.
Childcare sector advocate Georgie Dent says the mandate will cause teachers and educators to leave their jobs in droves, and while no such mandate has been made requiring children under 12 to be vaccinated, the risk of the virus spreading through childcare centres increases.
Ms Dent also states the importance of having teachers and childcare workers remaining in their positions, allowing other frontline workers to continue providing essential services.
