South Africa’s top diplomat has accused the federal government of discrimination against African nations after the travel bans from multiple southern African due to the Omicron variant.

South Africa's high commissioner to Australia, Marthinus van Schalkwyk says despite having fewer cases than the United Kingdom, travel has not been banned to and from the European nation.

Mr van Schalkwyk says that despite being transparent and warning other nations, South Africa is being punished despite control of the variant and cases within the nation.
