Brisbane Olympic Swimmer Madeline Groves has revealed in an interview on ABC yesterday that she was sexually abused from the age of 13 by a person who still works in the sport.

It comes after the swimmer withdrew from the Tokyo Olympic Trials in June accusing leading coaches in the sport of misconduct and a culture of ‘misogyny and perversion’ in the sport.

Groves has said that she was ‘molested by an adult male’ while another coach would control what she ate and make sexist comments to her.

Swimming Australia said in a statement that it: ‘has appointed an independent panel of experts to investigate issues relating to women and girls' experiences in swimming. The Panel's report and recommendations are expected early next year’
