Our region has been hit with sudden and devastating floods, causing deaths and the displacement of thousands of residents, as well as loss of small businesses, crops and access to critical services.
To support those most in need, 4ZZZ are here to connect and amplify the voices, services and resources of our community. Our online directory will help you support local businesses affected by the floods, and find support to help yourself, too.

Accomodation, Food & Animal Services
Community Recovery Hubs
Community Recovery Hubs are one-stop-shops for financial and non-financial support. They have representatives from Government and non-government organisations who can help connect you with financial support, other assistance, referrals and counselling.

If you need accommodation, there are temporary shelters set up across Brisbane.

West End Community House (food, power, wifi)
West End Community House on Norfolk street have coffee, food, power and wifi if you need. They’re open during the day but the community pantry is accessible whenever. They’re also looking for donations of long-life milk and things for sandwiches so drop that in if you can help.

Community Friends (food)
Community Friends is giving away food every Wednesday from 3pm in Bunyupa Park in West End. This includes hot meals, frozen meals, bread, cakes, etc. They’ll also welcome donations of non-perishable food.

Renters support and advice
Support and advice for renters - check Tenants Queensland and SEQUR.
RSPCA QLD (animal rescue)
RSPCA Queensland Rescue Units are working to return pets to homes and assisting with wildlife and livestock impacted by floods, but are inundated during disaster situations like this. State Emergency Services (132 500) and Brisbane City Council (07 3403 8888) can also be contacted for stranded livestock and pets.
If you do find injured and sick wildlife contact RSPCA’s 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625).
If you can help animals without putting yourself in harm’s way, keep them warm and secure until help can arrive, or call your local vet.
East Brisbane Bowls Club (food)
East Brisbane Bowls Club are serving hot meals and cuppas. Please wear masks. They'll even deliver to those in need.

Financial Support & Grants
Emergency Hardship Assistance
For people who have been directly impacted by some sort of disaster, including the floods. Providing assistance with meeting your immediate essential needs such as food, clothing or medical supplies if you’re unable do so on your own.
If eligible, applicants may receive $180 per person up to $900 for a family of 5 or more. The grant is initially available to claim for 7 days following the activation of the grant in your area.
Essential Household Contents Grant
You may be eligible for financial assistance if you’re uninsured, or unable to claim insurance.
Grants of up $1,765 are available as single adults. Couples/families can receive a grant of up to $5,300 towards replacing essential household contents like beds linen & whitegoods that have been lost.
Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment can help if you’ve been significantly affected by a disaster. It’s a lump sum payment to help you if you’re in a Local Government Area that’s been declared for a disaster.
To be eligible for this payment you or a dependent child you’re a principal carer for, must have been seriously affected by the storms and floods. For example; you were seriously injured, you’re the immediate family member of an Australian citizen or resident who died or is missing, or the flood caused major damage to your home.
If eligible, you'll recieve $1,000 for each adult and $400 for every child under 16.
Electrical Services Safety and Reconnection Grant
You may be eligible for a grant to help you reconnect essential services that were damaged by disaster.
There are two parts to this grant. The first part is an inspection. The grant can cover up to $200 per essential service that needs a safety inspection (gas, electricity etc.).
The second portion is Repairs. Eligible applicants can claim up to $4200 for repair work such as electrical rewiring necessary in order make these vital fixtures operational again.
Small Business Disaster Relief
In light of recent floods the Queensland Government has opened up a natural disaster assistance grant to affected areas for small businesses.
Queensland Rural and Industry Development grants and loans
Small businesses and not for profits may be eligible for grants and low-interest loans to help them to recover from the recent flood event.

Community Group & Small Business Fundraisers
Northey Street Farm
Northey Street Farm has been badly affected by flooding and have set up a fundraiser to cover their insurance excess. Northey Street is a community urban permaculture farm that promotes and educates for sustainability.
Bunjalung Community
Bunjalung community fundraiser in Northern New South Wales. Run by the First Nations owned and run newspaper, the Koori Mail. All the proceeds will go to people and affected communities without any deductions.
Loop Growers
Loop Growers was underwater on the weekend and has had buildings washed away and a heap of equipment damaged. They work with places like Netherworld, Alphabet Cafe, All My Friends, Florence and Grown, to provide sustainable organic produce and also reuse kitchen waste in their compost.
Brisbane Tool Library
The Brisbane Tool Library volunteers have been working hard to recover the tool library following the floods, repairing their inventory and relocating. Five years of work all went underwater in few hours. They need your financial support now so they can get back to supporting you and the entire community with their sustainable tool & equipment-sharing services once more.
