- Roza Terenzi has just released her debut album, Modern Bliss, on D. Tiffany’s label, Planet Euphorique. Terenzi and DJ Zozi collaborated for Planet Euphorique's inaugural EP in 2018 and Modern Bliss is the label's first LP. Terenzi, aka Katie Campbell, released her debut The Right Zone on Perth’s excellent Good Company Records in 2017. After making music as Catlips in her hometown of Perth, Campbell relocated to Melbourne, and now to Europe.

Kicking off with the contemplative Jungle In The City. I love the propulsive percussions and bubbly digital hits (it reminds me of the more dancefloor leaning releases on the excellent em:t records like Gas). The titular track is a great uplifting dancefloor track, complete with spoken word positive affirmations from Barcelona-based singer/producer Ivy Barkakati. Spiral offers another dimension of Terenzi's sound. It’s slower in its BPM, and has an almost two-step feel with its heavily syncopated rhythms. Yo-Yo is another favourite. From the get-go synth tones are smearing and panning around before a typical electro snare-kick comes in. This one does have a real electro feel in general, with its bouncing bassline and ascending chord progression. Love the big breakdown and the deft laying of percussion and synthetic sounds. Total Eclipse is truly up my alley as well, with its uplifting chords, spectral synth arpeggiating in the higher registers and its acid bassline. That Track (Rewired Mix) has bounce! A sampled vocal line is looped to great effect, complimented by more thumping production and warm chords. My Reality Cheque Bounced [Feat. DJ Zozi] has to be mentioned too – the pair covering breaks, techno and electro deftly.

Running close to an hour, Terenzi has crafted a superb album, suitable for the club environment or some isolated listening. Every release she's done shows still more refinement as a producer, with exceptional arrangements and programming across the board. Elements of breaks, rave, techno, ambient are all touched upon. More than any genres, classifications or technical prowess which they display, these songs are simply infectious.
