It’s been 10 years since Zombieland (2009) turned it up and became a cult classic. The original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) are on board for Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) and boy, is it one hell of a ride. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, this film features the following faces: Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Emma Stone as Wichita, Abigail Breslin as Little Rock and Zoey Deutch as Madison.

Whilst there is a lot of quirks to Zombieland: Double Tap (2019), and sure not everyone is a fan of zombies, I guess the ultimate question is why not give it a go? In this film, you will witness a fairshare of screen time dedicated to in-the-car banter which is made by the gang of fellow zombie slayers, and becomes a form of therapy for these characters. Meanwhile, Madison, is a total barbie doll with a cerebral vacuum and interestingly enough there is a surprise to her character that no one can predict.

Woody Harrelson is like Clint EastWood, but instead named Tallahassee. Harrelson is bad to the bone, hates complications and wants everything in black and white. He is intolerant of dead weight and would rather kill himself than face shame. He also happens to be smarter than a cyborg and dare I say, amazing. Of course, it is always nice to see Zoey Deutch popping up as a totally brainless gal who has moments of startling intelligence, and surprisingly it helps the movie along and keeps the audience distracted before the big reveal.

To be honest, whilst this film is quite gory, there isn’t a real reason to rate it 15+. In comparison to the original Zombieland (2009) this movie features cars that are more hi-tech and better weaponry. There is also an infinite resource of T- 800 zombies that are rather difficult to kill. It is a total learning curve for the cast as they head to a “peace city” called Babylon. When you enter Babylon it’s like a surreal theme park that seems to support marijuana and promote the idea that peace can solve everything. On entrance to Babylon, where you hand over your weapons which in turn get melted down, the gang must find a different way to stay alive.

This fantasy world is delightful until the fireworks, that the hippy occupants of Babylon let off, attract a very large amount of the new model T-800 Zombies. The main cast rapidly train the Babylon people how to kill zombies effectively. Along the way our heroes spend some time in the USA Government Whitehouse, which includes Harrleson living out a Presidential fantasy of his own. These scenes are well put together and enjoyable to watch as they illustrate each of the leading characters in a unique and interesting way.

Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) features a lot of great elements that make it what it is. Give it a watch to discover more about each of the characters and who they are on a deeper level. Every moment of this film is thrilling right from the start to the finish. Even if you’re not a zombie-lover, it’s always a good way to try something new, and you may find that you enjoy it more than you initially thought you would. Fans simply can’t wait another 10 years to watch the third installment, because it really is that good!
