On Friday November 15, W Hotels Brisbane in collaboration with Mixcloud presented a fusion of visual art and music with their “Future Rising” initiative. Established in 2016, the main aim of the initiative is to ‘champion emerging creative voices and amplify culture across the globe’. W Hotels Brisbane delivered a synthesis of rap artistry orchestrated by Genesis Owusu in synchrony with visuals by experimental creative collection, Tszuj.
Materialising from the back of the venue, Genesis and accompanying rap ninjas walked through their audience while offering greetings as they made their way to the front of the stage.
Donned in striking black and red ninja attire, Genesis and posse gave their niche crowd a powerful performance. Evoking the likes of early Bone Thugs N Harmony and Bootsy Collins, Genesis successfully crossed genres without losing crowd attention. Powered by emotion and a genuine love and respect for performing, Genesis is a leader who should be followed. An artist who is true to themselves in style and deliverance who in the near future will be playing to substantial crowds on the world’s biggest stages at the most sought after festivals.
