Erasers: Pulse Points

- Western Australia has always been home to some of the nation’s stranger sounds. Psychedelic licks and left-field electronica that refuses to follow the same beat as the rest of the world: these things keep bubbling up and -I’m sure I don’t need to tell you- have a tendency to go big. One such oddity which has slowly but surely been making its way into the ears of tastemakers around the world, is Erasers.

Saudi And UAE Fail To Make Good On Funding Promises

Reports of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates failure to make good on funding pledged made in February have led to Yemenis dying from cholera and other illnesses.

The UN's emergency relief coordinator, Mark Lowcock, told the UN Security Council most of the 40 countries that made pledges had stumped up aid cash, but Abu Dhabi and Riyadh were holding out.

Both countries have pledged 500million towards the 2.6 billion government promised contribution.

New Zealand Prime Minister described the policy as corrosive and argues that there have been a number of cases where there is also almost no connection of an individual to New Zealand who had been deported.

Since 2014, 1,500 Kiwi criminals were deported since the rules were tightened.

The Queensland government will set minimum staffing standards at state-owned nursing homes but admit it can’t force private facilities to do the same.

New laws will force Queensland’s 16 state-owned facilities to provide a minimum of 3.65 nursing hours per patient, per day and to publicly report staff ratios.

Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk says if private aged care facilities choose not to share their staffing levels, the government will reveal their identity of facilities unwilling to do the right thing by elderly Queenslanders

RSPCA Set To Receive $200,000 In State Funding

The state government is increasing funding to the RSPCA, receiving an additional $200,000 in funding to support their 1300 ANIMAL hotline.

Environment Minister Leeanne Enoch visited the RSPCA Brisbane Animal Care Campus, saying the RSPCA plays an important role in the care and rehabilitation of sick and injured wildlife across the state.

New Order: ∑(No,12k,Lg,17Mif) New Order + Liam Gillick: So it Goes…

- Capturing a moment in time has been the reason the “live album” exists, the possibility of containing lightning in a bottle to be sampled over and over again. Gets a bit more complex when you are attempting to bring thirty-plus years of an extensive and intriguing back-catalogue to life and then do it under a different set-up to the standard gig format. That takes some skill and a certain chutzpah. If anyone can do it, you have to imagine New Order are one of the few musical outfits who would both attempt it and stand a chance of pulling it off.

Swim Team: Home Time

- Isn’t it time to grow up? Put away childish things and … go and pay off some debt. Those aren’t very rock’n’roll sentiments. It could be more of a dour, post-punk thing, a Joy Division slit-your-wrists kinda vibe. That’s certainly one way to go, but Swim Team bring something else altogether -a swirl of sweetness, a DIY jangle, a messy unpreparedness, a sly grin and only a dash of despair- to the looming reality of growing up.
