Therapeutic Goods Administration Approves New Breast Medication

As of yesterday, the Therapeutic Goods Administration approved a new cancer drug which will help reduce the chance of relapse for those with early stages of HER2 - positive breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Research Centre oncologist Professor Arlene Chan says this medication, Nerlynx, is the only drug which has shown to reduce the risk of recurrence after chemotherapy and trastuzumab.

Trials have shown that this oral treatment reduces women’s five-year risk of the disease re-emerging or death by 42 percent.

Mixed Reactions From Gun Owners in New Zealand

New Zealanders are rushing to buy up firearms in wake of Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern announcing the country will soon be subject to stricter gun laws.

The PM was the first to sign a national condolences book opened in Wellington on Monday afternoon for those killed in the Christchurch mosque attacks.

The New Zealand gun lobby has strongly opposed further regulations in the past, but it is believed Friday’s attack will sway public perceptions about high-powered weapons.

Asbestos Dumped Meters From Refugees on Nauru

Shipping containers filled with asbestos sheeting have been dumped on Naura, leaving refugees living on the island exposed to the potentially deadly minerals.

A spokesperson from the Department of Home Affairs said the asbestos does not belong to the Department or its contracted service providers.

Review: Raven On at Brisbane Comedy Festival 2019

Let me be truthful in the fact that there are some major *SPOILERS* ahead for Raven On, presented by Act/React and performed as part of Brisbane Comedy Festival 2019 at the Brisbane City Hall. Now that you’ve been warned, you can continue. Where does one start with Natalie Bochenski? Is it the entertaining use of powerpoint slides? The absolute love of popular culture? The fact that her humour is relatable and relevant? I’ll simply leave it with if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, and even if you’re not, you’re in for a real treat.

Review: 30th French Film Festival, Alliance Française de Brisbane

The red carpet was rolled out and the wine was flowing for the gala night premiere of the 30th Annual French Film Festival in Brisbane, presented by Alliance Française.  The Barracks were buzzing with one of their biggest nights of the year. Glamorous women were tottering on sky-high heels with matching bags and many of the men were spruced up in open necked shirts and long pants, whilst supping on sparkling wine with not a beret in sight!

Ms. Caputova has been backed in her campaign by current President Andrej Kiska, and should she win the second round of campaigns, she will be the first female president of Slovakia.

Counter-terror police raid NSW homes amidst Christchurch investigation

Counter-terror police have raided two homes in New South Wales (NSW) following the Christchurch terror attack.

The home raids included the sister of accused Christchurch massacre gunman Brenton Tarrant and a house in Maclean, north of Coffs harbour.

Although police have mentioned there are no current threats from these searches, Tennant’s family are currently assisting police with the investigation.
