Australian First-Nations artifacts returned from Jerusalem museum
Over 1800 Aboriginal artefacts have been returned home from the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
The returned artefacts that include stone tools and grindstones are being repatriated by AIATSIS-led Return of Cultural Heritage program after they were donated to the Museum in the 1970s by Mr Carl Shipman.
AIATSIS CEO Craig Ritchie says “It’s a great pleasure to have this material back in Australia, where it can connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and indeed all Australians with over 60,000 years of history and culture.”
Two representatives of casino mogul James Packer resigned
Two representatives of casino mogul James Packer have resigned over the ruling that crown is unfit to run a casino.
An 18-month inquiry found serious failings in Crown’s governance, structure, and its oversight of money laundering activities at its casinos in Melbourne and Perth.
James Packers private company Consolidated Press Holdings, which owns 37 per cent of Crown, Packer also owns 50 percent of online betting company betfair.
Cairns police implement school surveillance
Queensland Police are set to introduce new measures to crack down on youth crime in Cairns.
The initiatives include creating a special unit which will focus on property crime and high-risk repeat offenders.
Cairns will also be the first location in Queensland to implement a program placing police support officers in schools to identify and support at-risk youths.
NZ suspends High-level contact between Myanmar
NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the high-level contact between Myanmar will be suspended to make sure no funding supports the military regime.

The peaceful protest has been held the last few days against the military's action on detention of the nation's iconic figure Aung San Suu Kyi.
Emergency exclusion zone established after truck roll over
Police have issued an emergency declaration after a truck rollover on Fitzroy Development Rd, Valkyrie near Mackay in the early hours of this morning.
The truck was reportedly carrying hazardous materials and a 3-kilometre exclusion zone has been established around the crash site, including the airspace above.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was assessed at the scene with minor shoulder injuries. Safety measures are expected to stay in place for some time.

New Zealand restricts Māori business attire
The New Zealand parliament kicked out the Māori Party co-leader for wearing a stone pendant around his neck, instead of a necktie.
Rawiri Waititi, breached the parliamentary dress code which requires male politicians to wear a tie when asking questions.
Mr. Waititi says the stone pendant he was wearing is the Māori equivalent of a necktie and considered it Māori business attire.
Raised concerns over China arrests
Foreign Minister Marise Payne said on Monday, Chinese authorities informed Australian government about the arrest of Australian journalist Cheng Lei.
Ms Payne says the government has consistently raised concerns regularly at the most senior levels.
Chinese authorities arrested Ms Lei on suspicion of illegally supplying state secrets overseas.
