Cloud Tangle: Kinds Of Sadness

- Brisbane based songstress Amber Ramsey writes, records and releases tunes under the name Cloud Tangle. She has been developing and refining her sound for six years, and has just released her debut album, Kinds of Sadness, which follows coolly on the heels of last year's EP Falling Asleep. The bedroom production spawns soundscapes that are simultaneously lush and lo-fi.

Yves Tumor: Heaven To A Tortured Mind

- Where the noisy and oppressive grit of Safe in the Hands of Love allowed American experimentalist Yves Tumor to explore a world of brilliant chaos, their refined new album Heaven To a Tortured Mind is more to the point.
Thundercat: It Is What It Is

- Consummate musician Thundercat is about to release his fourth album It Is What It Is. Out on Brainfeeder, the label of his frequent collaborator / producer Flying Lotus, they have brought forth a concise collection, touching on both levity and loss, while retaining his signature musical stylings.

Anna Burch: If You're Dreaming

- It has been a swift move for Anna Burch from signing to Polyvinyl to now. It took around a year from pen to paper to when her debut album Quit The Curse dropped. That debut put some teeth, albeit with a lethargic bite, into twee jangle pop and burrowed bijou hooks into laid back love songs. The Detroit native carries her songwriting hooks on the back of clean chords, yoked to refined, effortless vocals.

Pearl Jam: Gigaton

- Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall-of-Famers Pearl Jam have released their first album in seven years. In a legendary career entering its fourth decade, Pearl Jam’s Gigaton marks the eleventh album in the band’s existence. A -previously- famously prolific outfit, Pearl Jam had a quiet decade in the 2010’s, releasing only one album, 2013’s Lightning Bolt. However, if any band can be excused for inactivity it’s Pearl Jam.
The Dead Maggies: More Than Just Ghosts

- "The past isn't dead", once wrote William Faulkner; "in fact it's not even past". This is the reason we put in effort to remember the stories from times gone by - because understanding the world we live in partly means understanding the past events that got us here.

Es: Less Of Everything

- Es is a London-based quartet whose dystopian synth-punk paints gloomy day-in-the-life scenes with a palette of propulsive bass, plodding synth melodies, crashing drums and reverb soaked yells. Their debut album Less Of Everything is released this week on London DIY-stable Upset! The Rhythm.

Bolt Gun: Begotten

- Bolt Gun are an unusual entity, even amongst the terrifying, iconoclastic, sonic landmarks of drone, black metal and doom. I only came to them through their recent collaboration with extreme sound talent and extremely diverse artist Uboa. It gave me an inaccurate picture of a band that are, on their own, committed to the slow, unnerving and uncompromising genres that they work in and a worldview that is nothing short of flattening.
