Aussie teens more distressed than ever, study says
Australian teenagers are reporting increasing rates of psychological distress, according to a study commissioned by Mission Australia and the Black Dog Institute.
The study of 28 000 Australians between the ages of 15 and 19 has found that almost one in four teenagers are now reporting mental health challenges, with rates twice as high in girls and young women.

A state parliamentary committee has approved the government’s crackdown laws on protestors using “dangerous” devices to lock themselves to roads and train tracks in Queensland.
Brisbane has been subject to months of environmental protests where protestors stuck themselves in fences, roads, and bridges, halting the traffic.

The State Parliament Ethics Committee has forced Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to apologize for her threats to remove Katter’s Australian Party’s resources, after they refused to denounce Fraser Anning’s’ speech for a Muslim immigration ban.
Robbie Katter said he did not think one should use his privileged position to bully people in another position, but he still claimed that the Premier's apology was ‘highly qualified’.

Whitebell bird's mating voice hits the human pain threshold
Researchers have found the whitebell bird, Procnias albus’ mating voice reaches peak levels of 125.4 decibels, hitting the human pain threshold, and taking over the title of the worlds loudest bird.
The researchers say they are impressed that a small bird weighing 25 grams manages to make such a loud noise.
They have also found that shorter birds are able to make a louder voice due to their better ability to control airflow in their respiratory systems.

Two sunken Japanese World War II warships have been discovered deep in the Pacific Ocean
Vulcan Inc's director of undersea operations Rob Kraft and Heritage Command historian Frank Thompson reviewed the high-frequency sonar images of the warship and concluded that it’s dimension and location were identical with aircraft carrier Akagi, which was sunk in the Battle of Midway in 1942.
A Bangladeshi Asylum seeker committed suicide in NSW on Sunday
Bangladeshi asylum seeker, Mohammad Mohsin, has died after commiting suicide at Lakemba Moseque in New South Wales on Sunday.
Mr Mohsin, who had arrived in Australia by boat in 2013 to seek asylum, had become homeless and was in the process of appealing a Federal Court decision to reject his application for protection.
Refugee Action Coalition spokesperson Ian Rintough said that Mr Mohsin’s death is yet another tragedy that reveals the government's failed asylum process.

Company Fitzgerald Constructions announced that the Neville Bonner Bridge, honouring Australia’s first Indigenous parliamentarian would connect the $3.6 billion (dollar) Queen’s Wharf casino and hotel resort development with South Bank.
Work on the construction project will begin at South Bank between the Wheel of Brisbane and the river’s edge in March next year, with several riverside trees to be removed.

Train services were delayed for up to two hours yesterday morning, after a signalling fault held up traffic at the Eagle Farm Junction.
Commuters reported to work more than an hour late, with multiple services, including those travelling to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, affected by the change.
Queensland Rail’s Natalie Roach apologised to people experiencing the delays, saying that buses supplemented trains on major lines and that people travelling to the airport were offered taxis to compensate for the shortfall.
