The pilot of an Indian fighter Jet captured on Wednesday is set to be released by Pakistan as a gesture of ‘good will’.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan says the pilot will be released on Friday, calling it a ‘peace gesture’.

The announcement has relieved minds of world leaders who feared the conflict between India and Pakistan may escalate into war.

New data released shows that the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games continues to support and spur growth for many Queensland Indigenous businesses.

Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones, says supporting Indigenous businesses was one of the key aims of the GC2018 Reconciliation Action Plan – to provide employment and training opportunities.

Indigenous businesses secured more than 14 million dollars in contracts and revenue from the Games.

Professor Kaafar claims a sophisticated attacker could expose Australian census data using a method that he claims is, ‘very simple.’

The ABS declines to answer specific questions about this alleged vulnerability but assured that while the attack is ‘theoretically possible’ these systems are checked regularly.

 

Queensland Calls On The Federal Government To Join Aid Package

The Queensland Government is committing $11 million to a North-West Aid Package.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is calling on the Federal Government to join an  aid package to help farmers and communities affected by the North West Floods.

Minister for Agricultural Industry Development Mark Furner says recovery efforts are already well underway with Department Officials working alongside the Australian Defence Force to coordinate fodder drop operations for stranded livestock.
 

Second Dingo Attack on Fraser Island

A boy and a woman are recovering in Sunshine Coast University Hospital after being attacked by a dingo on Fraser Island.

The nine-year-old boy suffered bite wounds to his legs, with the woman, 24, suffering bites to her legs and arms.

The attack is the second dingo attack on Fraser Island in recent weeks, following the mauling of a child on the island only five weeks ago.

Chairman says Trump ‘appears’ to commit crime

The chairman of the United States House Oversight Committee believes US President Donald Trump ‘appears’ to have committed crime.

Chairman Elijah Cummings spoke to reporters after a day-long hearing with Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, referring to Cohen’s admission to breaking campaign finance laws at Trump's direction in a guilty plea last year.

However, Chairman Cummings declined to say whether Trump should be removed from office as a result.

UK shooting range uses IS teen Shamima Begu’s image as a target

A UK shooting range is being criticised for using a photo of a teenager who travelled to Syria to join IS, as target practice.

Shamima Begum’s image appeared on targets at the Ultimate Airsoft Range following a BBC interview in which she pleaded for the British government to let her return to the country.

A spokesperson for the shooting range said her image was placed on the targets after seeing the lack of remorse and empathy the 19-year-old showed.

Alerts issued for Victoria as hot weather sweeps the state

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a heatwave will affect most of Victoria and will bring stuffy overnight temperatures on Friday and Saturday.

The Chief Health Officer has issued a heat health alert for Victorians in the central district from Thursday through to Saturday, warning that the elderly, children and those with pre-existing medical conditions are most at risk.

Emergency Management Victoria warned fire danger ratings will likely increase to severe in some areas on Saturday, with temperatures tipped to reach up to 40 degrees.
