App no longer brushing off Brush Turkey

Researchers from the University of Sydney are asking queensland scientists and bird watchers to record backyard brush turkey sightings through a new app

The call was launched by the University along with Taronga Convervation Society and Royal Botanic Garden Sydney in order to understand how the bird has adapted to urban development.

Middle Name Dance Tracks: Middle Name Dance Tracks Vol.1

- The second release from Sampology’s new label Middle Name Records just dropped, titled Middle Name Dance Tracks Vol. 1. The volume comes from collaborators Megan Christensen, Sam Stosurr and Sampology. All three played at the recent Sound Signature Showcase (thanks A Love Supreme). Christensen, as part of the excellent Pink Matter, Stosurr, undisputed MVP of the night, playing bass in at least three different bands, including Sampology.

LUCIANBLOMKAMP: Sick Of What I Don't Understand

- Come the end of 2018 and the man in caps, LUCIANBLOMKAMP, delivers the third installment of his third LP, Sick Of What I Don’t Understand. Whatever else you might take away from his music and his marketing, splitting the impact of a full-length into three EPs, drip-fed to the world, must indicate he’s got a lot of confidence that what he’s got, is worth hearing.

WIndhand: Eternal Return

- This was one of those albums that almost slipped by me and I would have been kicking myself if it did. Coming through with their second release this year, after February’s split with Satan’s Satyrs, Windhand are not showing any signs of relinquishing my attention -any time- with Eternal Return. Hailing from the region that produced Lamb Of God and GWAR, the Richmond quartet have allayed all concerns and settled in to become a beloved fixture of a band.

Open Mike Eagle: What Happens When I Try To Relax

- Open Mike Eagle is far from your typical rapper. Between a successful podcasting career, cameos on Adventure Time and his recent foray into the world of professional wrestling, it’s no surprise his music is rather unique. Mike represents a new generation of backpack rappers, whose complete embrace of the internet age has resulted in some of the most unique and original hiphop around.

St Vincent: Masseducation

- An acoustic record is a rite of passage for most artists with a long-spanning career, and it can often be an insight into the inner workings of their mind and a sort of proof that they can excel in the true, harsh spotlight, when there are no extravagant musical arrangements to hide amongst. MassEducation, a reimagination of St Vincent’s 2017 record Masseduction, is one of these acoustic records that adds an element of reality to a musician otherwise known for her artistic extravaganza.
