Sunshine Coast Couple Combats Habitat Shortage
Sunshine Coast couple Alan and Stacey Franks have been responding to a shortage in tree hollow habitat for native animals by building nesting boxes.
The couple have collaborated with researchers including Queensland Herbarium principal zoologist Geoffrey Smith in order to combat the shortage of habitat for endangered species such as greater gliders and powerful owls.

Rising floodwaters have turned the small New South Wales community of Wee-Waa into an island overnight.

Queensland Government Commits $123,000 for Protection of Bats
The Queensland Government has committed a $123,000 for the protection of Mount Etna’s ghost bats.
The ghost bats are the largest microbat species in Australia and are listed as endangered under Queensland’s Nature Conservation Act.
