A rapidly evolving outbreak has raised concerns for critically low vaccinated indigenous communities across Australia.

In Wilcannia, where 44 people have tested positive, there has been a shortage of food and supplies as families in overcrowded housing isolate together.

First Nations communities in western and far western New South Wales are laying the blame on "negligent" and "incompetent" lack of planning from both the state and federal governments.

Brazil’s Supreme Court to rule soon on Indigenous land rights

The top court in Brazil is set to decide whether to recognize Indigenous rights to land occupied prior to 1988 when Brazil’s constitution was ratified, a legal cut-off date sought by Brazilian state governments that are seeking to limit Indigenous claims.

Indigenous peoples and rights groups argue applying the 1988 date erases Indigenous claims across Brazil dating back to the 1950s when they were pushed from their lands by tobacco farms, miners and logging operations.

 

Logan Regarded Drone Delivery Capital of the World

Residents of Logan have been informed this morning that the city has been regarded as the “drone delivery capital of the world”. 

A google owned company known as “Drone delivery service wing” have released new figures showing it made more than 50,000 deliveries in the first eight months of 2021

The drone company has steadily expanded its Logan operations for almost two years, and it now services 19 suburbs with small items such as takeaway coffee and even hardware.

 

Fully Vaccinated NSW Residents Could Be Granted New Freedoms

New freedoms for fully vaccinated residents of New South Wales could be announced as early as today despite the state recording its highest day of coronavirus cases. 

The possibility of eased restrictions comes after two of Sydney's largest hospitals, both located in COVID19 hotspots, prepare to move emergency patients to temporary  make-shift units to cope with the surge in patients infected with the virus. 

The head of the NSW AMA has warned against changing the public health orders, saying health experts, "don't think now is a safe time to relax restrictions".

Queensland Government Announce Snap Two-Week Travel Ban

The Queensland government has announced that those arriving into the state after its’ snap two-week travel ban must buy return tickets. 

Anyone arriving in Queensland for the next fortnight, unless they have a rare exemption, will be forced to wait at the airport or in hotel quarantine until they can book a flight to exit the state or face a $4000 fine.

Queensland residents seeking entry into the state will need to reapply for border passes and then book into a hotel on an allocated date after September 8.

Queensland will pause hotel quarantine from interstate hotspots for two weeks to ease pressure on the system. The pause applies to arrivals from Victoria, the ACT, and NSW. The announcement comes after Queensland has recorded no new cases. Exceptions apply to people visiting for compassionate reasons such as suffering from a loss and medical procedures.

 

Senate Makes Unanimous Bill Fighting Stronger Privacy Protections

Stronger privacy protections to better protect witnesses of the disability royal commission have unanimously passed the Senate following long-held concerns over a lack of safeguards.  

The Royal Commissions Amendment to the Protection of Information Bill passed on Wednesday with the support of the government as well as Labor and Greens senators, but did not require a formal vote. 

The bill is aimed at boosting the trust of people with disability and potential whistleblowers to come forward to share evidence. 

UK McDonald's Impacted by Strained Supply Chain

McDonalds has been forced to stop selling milkshakes and bottled drinks at nearly 1,300 restaurants in the United Kingdom as Brexit-related staff shortages and supply chain delays caused by the pandemic continue to slam companies.

McDonald's is the latest in a series of UK companies to see its supply chain strained because of the pandemic and Brexit, which has contributed to a shortage of workers and introduced new trade barriers with the European Union.

The vaccine is the first coronavirus vaccine approved by the FDA, and is expected to open the door to more vaccine mandates. 

The US is hopeful that the approval will encourage people globally to get the coronavirus vaccine.

Purchasing this item on the black market brings risks such as the unknown contents of the CBD products,  Mr Cochrane says, "They don't know what's in it, they don't know how it's grown, they don't know if it's got mould, they don't know if it's got pesticides, heavy metals — the list just goes on,"
