'Antifa' to be designated as a Terrorist Organisation: Trump

Donald Trump has announced ‘Antifa’, a term used for far-left anti-fascist groups, will be designated as a terrorist organisation.

The announcement comes in the wake of protests against the in death custody of unarmed black man, George Floyd. Trump stated in a recent tweet that states must quote “get much tougher” on anti-police protests.

Antifa groups monitor local fascist activities and resist far-right groups including white supremacists and neo-nazis.

Benjamin Walsh: Solo Flight

- Do you remember The Bird? I was rather surprised to discover that -without even having to plunge into some hours long deep-dive- the internet does. I thought I’d be getting a million returns for Charlie Parker and bugger-all else, but lo, right at the top of my search is a distinctly web 1.5 bio recalling the festival-hopping highlights of the Australian electronic duo.

Adam Gibson: The Songs Of Adam Gibson

- Somehow, considering I have a deep love for both Australiana and songwriters who blur the line between pop song and short story, I had never heard of Adam Gibson until this week I came across The Songs Of Adam Gibson, a compilation that collates sixteen tracks from a musical output spanning three bands and sixteen years.

Miiesha - 'NYAARINGU'

4ZZZ Album of the Week: Miiesha - 'Nyaaringu'
Since making her debut in mid-2019, Miiesha has released a string of mesmerising singles – ‘Black Privilege’, ‘Drowning’, ‘Twisting Words’ and ‘Hold Strong’. Now comes her debut collection ‘Nyaaringu’, an album of 9 songs all tied together through the common themes of her life, her community and her people. Her late Grandmother's interludes provide a thread between the tracks, highlighting the passing down of knowledge from Elders through the generations.

Now based in #Melbourne, Miiesha is from the small Aboriginal community of Woorabinda in Central Queensland. In a short space of time, she’s made an indelible impression – only last week, she picked up the Levi's Apparel Australia Music Prize as Queensland representative and this year was the winner of Queensland Music Awards Remote Region prize for her release ‘Drowning’.

Discussing the album, Miiesha explains, "Nyaaringu is a collection of stories that I wanted to tell. For me it represents my journey and where I'm at now coming from Woorabinda. The interludes in the collection are recordings of my Grandmother speaking. For me she was and always will stay with me as the strongest voice in my life so I felt she had to be a part of this with me."

Listen to the Album of the Week on 4ZZZ, 102.1fm, and ZED Digital.
