Climate activist Miree Le Roy is still in the throes of fighting Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner’s ban on the Extinction Rebellion sub-group Grey Power, for allegedly inciting illegal activity in their council libraries. 4ZZZ's Album of the Week: Ancient Channels - 'Moments in Ruin'

Ancient Channels is a sonic expedition through the imagined past, present and future. The Brisbane based post-punk band consists of Kelly Hanlon playing multiple instruments ( DEAFCULT / Terra Pines) and Chris Preindl (Apparitions / Leavings / Vestiges) performing the drums and percussion which forms the heartbeat of the band’s sound. Ancient Channels draw from a myriad of influences including post-punk, dream pop, shoegaze and the sci-fi soundtracks of early film and television.

The debut record ‘Moments In Ruin’ by Ancient Channels is a collage of genres. From the hypnotically ceremonial drumming to the more contemporary guitar riffs, dreamy vocals and ambient synth lines, Ancient Channels skirt the lines of antiquated futurism whilst keeping their feet firmly planted in the now.

Obscura Hail: Siren

- Sean Conran is one of those artists who, without planning it, is perfectly fitted for the pandemic era. Anomie: SOS

- I wonder if Anomie ever gets tired of being called a ‘secret weapon’? I mean, first up, it ain’t no secret. The Red Bull Music Academy alum has played Sonar Festival in Spain, got tapped by Germany’s Goethe Institut to make a sonic essay about Sydney and plays just about every major festival that comes through New South Wales.
