The Gold Coast Airport will be partnering with Smiths Detections after trialing new CT technology screening systems on carry-on baggage.

The technology produces 3D images that remove the need for passengers to unload items such as laptops, gels, or liquids.  

The new system was implemented in January this year, and staff reported a significant enhancement in the security screening process - for both passengers and members of the security team - until the trial ended on March 1.  

Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter from the Matildas soccer team joined Nike’s leading women’s football athletes to unveil the all new Australian home kit today. The girls joined 26 athletes from 14 Nike Federations to launch the official National Team Collections.

The Matildas Team Captain Sam Kerr says having a kit designed exclusively for the Matildas is a dream come true and that they are honoured to be pulling on the green and gold.

The Matildas will debut the kit in April in a match against the United States.

The NSW government has announced it will be backing a 35 million dollar project to establish the Sydney Quantum Academy.

The academy is a result of the collaboration between four universities in the Sydney area, and is set to train the next generation of engineers and scientists in quantum computing.

The NSW government has pledged to invest 15.4 million dollars into the project, with the understanding that the academy will attract talent and investment to Australia.

Bangladesh is planning to relocate 23,000 Rohingya refugees to a remote island to treat heavy overcrowding in its refugee camps.

A new dinosaur species has been discovered in south-eastern Australia from a 125 million-year-old fossil.

Galleonosaurus dorisae was found along the Victorian coastline and is about the size of a wallaby. It was given its name because its jaw resembles an upturned galleon ship.

The herbivore is believed to have roamed the land that once lay between Australia and Antarctica, and is the fifth fossil to be discovered along the Victorian coast.

150,000 older Australians have taken advantage of the Pension Work Bonus scheme in the past 12 months.

The scheme allows pensioners to earn an average of up to $250 a fortnight from paid employment, without it impacting their pension entitlements. That threshold is set to increase to $300 a fortnight on July 1st.

The new financial year will also bring pensioners the opportunity to register as ‘self-employed’ as part of the scheme, allowing them to earn a bit of extra cash without worrying about how it will affect their pension.
