Men of Quality Don't Fear Equality

Demi Lynch

David Hird was tired of all the responsibility being put onto women to take action against rape culture and domestic violence. So he decided to do something about it. And organised a rally to allow men to be part of the conversation.

“I would definitely say it’s a man’s issue but I guess one thing I definitely don’t want to happen in this situation is the contributions women have been making  fighting this violence, that shouldn’t be overshadowed by men," David says, "Women have been fighting a lot longer.”

MEZKO: Syzygy

- Two piece Sydney outfit MEZKO have returned with their second EP Syzygy. It's a short and sweet three tracker that's buzzing with multidimensional tracks and expert production and arrangement.

You In Me opens the EP up with a grinding bass riff that takes you to the dance floors of Berlin, before delving into grimy analogue riffs and a pseudo spoken vocal. The longest track on the record, it cycles through different sections, which sees the use of dynamic and melodic variation, something which can -sometimes- be missing from music in the genre.

Denzel Curry: Ta13oo

- The wait for Taboo has felt like an eternity. Ever since the Raider Klan’s rise to fame and subsequent demise, Denzel Curry has been steadily refining his version of the dark, Memphis sound which inspired the Florida collective. This release comes as the much anticipated follow up to 2016’s Imperial, a project which showed Curry progressing past his influences to craft mammoth tracks like ULT and Gook, cuts embodying everything trap could be in the 21st century.

Imported seafood supports slave labour

Australian retailers are being urged to do more to ensure their imported seafood is not being produced by slave labour.

While stricter Australian laws and policing ensure Australian-made products are mostly free from the influence of slave labour, Thailand, Indonesia and China’s fishing industries are reported to be rife with forced labour.

They frequently use stateless or illegal workers who can’t complain to authorities about being forced to work as slaves in brutal conditions.

Trying Taiwan change

In a victory for China's Government, the final three of 44 international airlines told to change the way they refer to the self-governing island of Taiwan have complied just before a deadline expired.

American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines all dropped references to "Taiwan" on their websites to meet the July 25 deadline imposed by Beijing — a demand previously described by the US government as "Orwellian nonsense".
