Colossal Biosciences, a Dallas-based company, is aiming to create a mammoth hybrid that looks exactly like the woolly mammoth. They have reprogrammed cells from the closest living relative to the mammoth, an Asian elephant. These cells can be used to help the hybrid mammoth grow a a woolly coat and develop other traits that are required to survive in the Arctic. 

The company believes that resurrecting the woolly mammoth could possibly help restore the Arctic tundra, which is at risk due to global warming. 

Treasurer Jim Chalmers announced Monday morning that the government would remove the 5% tariff applied to nearly 500 imported goods, including items like fridges, pyjamas, as well as menstrual and sanitary products. This is because the tariffs were raising very little money since a series of loopholes had allowed allowed most businesses to gain exemptions.

In an effort to build more homes, the NSW government plans to rezone areas near train stations, where homes have existed since 1890. 

Plans to build 6-storey apartments in place have caused uproar amongst affected residents, especially with some suburbs falling under heritage conservation. 

Council planning experts have advised that these plans override heritage protections; however, premier Chris Minns reassures that mechanisms will remain in place to prevent them from being demolished.
