Shonen Knife return after five years

Japanese pop punk legends Shonen Knife have been regular visitors to Australia over their four decades of existence. It’s been five years since their last visit, but the occasion of their new album Our Best Place has brought them back.

The setting is Felons Barrel Hall – so far it has not been a regular host of international rock bands, but the vast warehouse style space is big enough, and the views of the Brisbane River are vocally appreciated by the bands.

Scattered Order

Given the Scattered Order’s long and varied history it is a testament to their resilience that none of the current band members particularly feel like they are part of a scene or genre. Originating from Sydney’s M Squared label their roots are in the DIY/post punk/art noise of the late 1970’s. They exist outside the zeitgeist and legacy mode of their contemporaries from that era.

US Tech Firm Renews Hunt for Missing Malaysian Airlines Flight, MH370

The Malaysian government has said it may renew the hunt for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. A US technology firm proposed a fresh search in the southern Indian Ocean where the plane is theorised to have crashed 10 years ago.

The Texas-based Ocean Infinity has proposed another “no find, no fee” basis to scour the seabeds, expanding from the site where it first searched in 2018.
