Adani Fails to address regulator demands
Mining Giant Adani has failed to meet the Queensland Government’s demands to protect the Doong-ma-bulla Springs Oasis with its new Groundwater Dependent Ecosystem Management Plan.
The Government’s rejection of the new plan stems from a failure to address the protection of the springs, and the removal of sections detailing the potential human impacts on vegetation and pest animals
The Australian Conservation Foundations Bashar Stasak says this failure suggests a disinterest in fulfilling the government’s environmental requirements

Teenagers Killed in Education Centre Attack in Kabul
48 people have been killed and a further 67 injured in an attack on an education centre in Kabul, Afghanistan.
A suicide bomber entered the centre while classes were in session, and detonated his explosive belt.]
A large number of the victims are teenagers, who were using the centre to prepare for university entrance exams.
Genoa Bridge Collapse Death Toll Rises
The 50 year old Morandi bridge in Genoa, Italy, collapsed during a storm on Tuesday.
The death toll has climbed to 39, and local authorities are evacuating the surrounding areas amidst fears that more of the bridge will collapse.
A state of emergency in Italy has been declared as rescuers continue to search for survivors.
Not Out, Not Happy
The Diversity Council Australia released a report today finding up to two thirds of employees who are diverse in gender and sexuality are concealing their identity in the workplace, significantly compromising their wellbeing and performance.
It found they twice as likely to feel down compared to employees who are ‘out’ to their colleagues and are 45% less likely to be satisfied with their job.
Diversity Council Australia CEO, Lisa Annese ["arn-niece"] says the report confirms we still have a long way to go.

New Allegations Against Former Governor General Peter Hollingworth
Queensland police are reviewing new evidence against former governor general Peter Hollingworth, for failing to act while he was archbishop.
In 20-15, Mr Hollingworth apologised to sexual abuse survivors for his lack of action as archbishop of Brisbane in the 19-90s.
There are no sexual assault allegations against Mr Hollingworth, however police are investigating whether the former governor general can be charged with other related offences.
Rare Regent Honeyeater Sighted in Queensland
The Regent Honeyeater, a bird recently thought to be ‘one step from extinction’ has been sighted three times in recent weeks.
The birds numbers have been reduced to 400 nationwide as the natives bird’s natural habitat is dwindling as development encroaches on its habitat.
Birdlife Australia’s Dean Ingwersen says the bird has not been sighted in Queensland for over 50 years and is extinct in South Australia and Western Victoria.
