Doctor stood down for accidental vaccination.

A doctor who reportedly administered 4 times the recommended dose of a Pfizer coronavirus vaccine to two elderley Queenslanders, has been stood down from the vaccine program.

Federal Health minister, Greg Hunt, says the incident is still under investigation.

Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly says they may need to review the training modules going forward.

 

$2 billion Eagle Street Pier development appealed by Riparian Plaza owners

A planned $2.1 Billion dollar development of eagle street pier has been appealed in court by the owners of a neighbouring commercial tower.

Neighbouring tower, Riparian Plaza, says the plan has changed significantly since it was approved by the Brisbane City Council late last year, with over 5 thousand square metres of extra floor space added to the development. 

Brisbane City Council has not replied to the appeal however a hearing has been scheduled for March 25.

Queensland fire season predicted to extend

Queensand’s fire season is predicted to extend into March due to extreme hot and dry conditions. 

Brain Smith, Regional Manager of Rural Fire Service Queensland, says the fire season in Central Queensland will continue until the region experiences significant rainfall. 


This comes despite La Nina conditions, which typically bring heavier rainfall in the wet season, being declared by the Bureau of Meteorology.

Biloela Netball Association wins Queensland Sports Club of the Year

Biloela Netball Association has been awarded Queensland Good Sports Club of the year at a ceremony held at Parliament House in Canberra today. 

The community sports club is being recognised for building team cultures where members support each other, especially in relation to addiction and mental health. 

8 Queensland clubs are receiving awards at the ceremony today for building healthy and inclusive communities through local sporting programs.

 

Department of Finance investigation launched into Craig Kelly's office over Frank Zumbo allegations

The Government has asked the Department of Finance to look into the safety of Cross Bench MP Craig Kelly's staff as New South Wales Police continue to look into claims of inappropriate behaviour by one of his senior staffers.

Kelly's senior staffer Frank Zumbo is being investigated by New South Wales Police over allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

Mr Zumbo strenuously denies any wrongdoing and no charges have been laid.

Another Insurer rules out deal with Adani

UK insurance company, Brit, has ruled out funding any projects associated with the Adani Carmichael coal project.

Brit, one of the largest British insurers is the sixth insurance company to stop underwriting Adani’s coal project.

Adani’s Carmichael mine will add an estimated 4.6 billion tonnes of carbon pollution to the atmosphere over its lifetime.

 

Japan-Australia hydrogen export project on hold due to boarder restriction

Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries says the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain project is delayed until July because of the border closure prohibiting engineers from entering Japan. 

Earlier this month, the project succeeded in gasification of hydrogen from Latrobe Valley coal in Victoria, and it is planned to be liquefied and stored at the Port of Hastings.

However, the liquefied hydrogen carrier, Suiso(SUE-e-so) Frontier, will be anchored in Japan until receiving engineers from overseas manufacturers for the final approval of machinery installation on the vessel.

Mysterious goose found on ancient Egyptian painting

A University of Queensland researcher might have identified an extinct goose in an ancient Egyptian painting.

The research published in the Journal of Archaeological Science shows the distinct speckled brown and gold markings totally unlike modern geese.

Dr Romilio said no bones from modern red-breasted geese have been found on any Egyptian archaeological site.

 

Italian village Camogli lost 200 coffins by landslide

A landslide in Camogli, an Italian sea-side village, has caused significant damage to a cemetery and caused around 200 coffins to fall into the ocean. 

Local fire fighters launched an operation to recover the caskets from the sea on Tuesday afternoon. 

11 coffins have been recovered so far with rescue operations still underway.
