Noosa campers at risk of hefty fines
Campers in Noosa are at risk of getting fined $266 dollars if they continue to camp in the Noosa National Park carpark.
Noosa resident Julie Ember said, "What I see every morning is a community of people that wake up and have coffee and they're happy".
The campers have paid over $1300 dollars in fines collectively this year.

Bridges set to connect communities across Brisbane
Three of the five new green bridges planned for Brisbane city are awaiting decisions on their final design and location almost one year after the council’s re-election.
Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has pledged that his administration would put five hundred and fifty million dollars towards building five bridges.
The Mayor said during his election campaign in March 2020 that the bridges would create better cross-river links for pedestrians and cyclists.
Construction on the other two bridges is expected to begin later this year.

Ghana receives first COVAX vaccine delivery
Ghana has become the first country to receive the coronavirus vaccine through the COVAX sharing scheme.
The scheme aims to promote equitable worldwide access to the vaccine.
600,000 doses arrived in Accra on Wednesday, with health care workers and people over 60 being prioritised.
Calls to reform farm worker pay
The Australian Workers Union has called to change the way farm workers are being paid.
Secretary Dan Walton says workers are not guaranteed a minimum pay rate as many rely on how much they pick.
The proposal outlines that pickers who work ten hours per day should get the equivalent award rate for those ten hours.
The matter is listed for the Fair Work Commission late July.
NT Daly River region prepares for floods
Residents in the Northern Territory Daly River region are being told to prepare for moderate floods.
The NT Police have sent staff to assist the community with the river reaching 12.6 metres.
The Bureau of Meteorology advised authorities that the river may peak at 13.8 metres over the weekend.
QLD closes borders to New Zealand
Queensland’s borders have closed to New Zealand due to a COVID-19 outbreak in Auckland.
NSW, Victoria and Queensland have limited quarantine-free travel now that at least eight cases have been linked to an Auckland high school.
“Unfortunately, over the past few days New Zealand has been recording some new positive cases, which is why we are closing the border from 6pm [February 24, 2021],” said State Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young.
“Anyone who is permitted to travel to Queensland from New Zealand will be required to quarantine on arrival."
Activists take to the footpath to protest indefinite refugee detention
Community activists will take to the footpath to protest the indefinite detention of refugees in a Kangaroo Point hotel.
Refugee Action Collective Queensland will gather every Friday from 5pm at the Kangaroo Point Central Hotel to draw attention to the detained men.
The 60 men inside, some of whom have been detained for over 8 years, have been banned from using the outside terraces and putting up signs.
Brisbane named preferred city for 2032 Summer Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has named Brisbane as the preferred candidate city to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games.
Brisbane's bid is reportedly the stand-out due to the existing infrastructure and the established upgrade plans for South-East Queensland.
The IOC will now move discussions to a targeted dialogue followed by final negotiations.
