Environmental activist wins case in Supreme court on basis of civil liberties
Environmental activist Ben Winch has won in the Supreme Court to have numerous bail conditions removed allowing him to take part again in Camp Binbee, an environmental camp hub near Bowen, Queensland.
In October 2020, Winch was arrested after he took part in direct action by attaching himself with a chain to a cattle grid near Adani’s Bravus coal mine. Since then, he has been on bail, with his restrictions including the prohibition to join Camp Binbee or being disallowed to go 100 meters away from any QR Railway.

Debt Increases as NSW Hotel Quarantines Go Largely Unpaid
Freedom of information laws reveal only 10 per cent of New South Wales travellers have paid their coronavirus hotel quarantine. Over 43,000 travellers were put up in hotels throughout the state as well as 12,000 Defence Force personnel. Exemptions on financial fees have already cost the Government over $30 million in lost revenue.
Scott Morrison Denies Allegations as China Claims Australia Violated Human Rights
Chinese diplomats leaked a list of grievances to Australian newspapers this week. China has claimed Australian Government, Scott Morrison, is to blame for the weakening ties due to human right violation allegations and negative media coverage of China in Australia. Mr Morrison has dismissed China’s claims and stated Beijing is angry over ‘Australia being Australia'.
Government Guidelines Adjusted as Tokyo's Coronavirus Rates Peak
Tokyo’s revealed its coronavirus alert is at an all-time high as cases increased by 534 on Thursday alone. Governor Yuriko Koike says Japan is on the highest alert level with infections possibly reaching 1,000 cases a day. With the Olympic Games scheduled to be staged in Tokyo next year, Government guidelines are being put in place to mindfully restrict the movements of people without causing economic impact.
Beekeeping is Being Brought Back to Life in Victoria
For the past 10 weeks, Claire Moore’s bee farm in central Victoria has been paying visits to the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre. Men inside the Centre are learning the art of beekeeping with young people released well educated to start work in the beekeeping industry. Ms Moore says there has been a large amount of interest from beekeepers throughout the industry wanting to hire these young people.
QLD Coral Trout Now a Banned Export to China
Coral trout exports from Queensland are worsened by Australia’s trade relationship with China. Along with Barley, wine and rock lobsters, coral trout is has now joined the list of banned exports. Bowen fisher, Ben Collison says only 40% are sold to the Australian domestic market and local businesses are likely to suffer.
