QLD Records No New Cases After Weekend Vaccination Push, Concerns Over Complacency

The Queensland Deputy Premier has warned not to become complacent despite there being 5 days without a new COVID19 case. 

Deputy Premier Mark Bailey voiced his concerns about a drop in covid check in app usage among Queenslanders and warns of the need to continue covid safe practices with interstate travellers crossing the borders looming in the near future.

QPS Show Up in Uniform Despite Requests Not To Do So

Queensland Police Service Officers showed up to Pride festivities in uniform despite Pride’s request for them not to do so. 

A number of QPS workers and Corrective Service officers showed up to march in uniform, despite requests from Pride and the wider community not to have the presence of police within the space due to concerns about safety. 

Vigil To Be Held Honoring Refugee and Release of Coronial Inquest Results

A Vigil is to be held for a refugee who died by suicide in an offshore detention on Nauru. 

Protestors will hold a vigil at 9:30am outside the Brisbane Magistrates Court to mark the 6 year anniversary and release of the results of the coronial inquest into the death of Omid Masoumali, an Iraninan man who sought refuge and was incarcerated in offshore detention centre on Nauru. 

New Zealand Unveils Plans to Halve Greenhouse Emissions by 2030

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has committed to critically reducing emissions by half before 2030.

In a new statement released on Sunday, Ms Ardern and Climate Change Minister James Shaw announced that New Zealand will halve its greenhouse gas emission by 2030, ahead of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.
