Temporary pop-up vaccination clinics for Melbourne's homeless
The Victorian Government announced their plan to create mobile vaccination hubs in Melbourne to help homeless and vulnerable people get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Each pop-up clinic can vaccinate up to forty people a day, and will be visiting homelessness services, drop-in centres, and crisis accommodation facilities.
Each vaccination team includes two community health nurses, a social worker, and a worker who has also experienced homelessness.
Petition for hunger striking refugees in Melbourne
The Refugee Action Collective Victoria launched a petition in solidarity with hunger striking refugees.
The petition calls on the coalition government to free all refugees who are indefinitely detained in Australia.
The hunger striking detainees at the Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation are among the 90 people detained around Australia, while another 230 are detained offshore.
Updates on China's deadly flooding
China’s Henan province is bracing for more heavy rain after severe flooding that sparked large-scale evacuations left at least 33 dead. The death toll includes at least 12 commuters who were killed after water flooded subway carriages in the capital Zhengzhou. Eight people still remain missing, according to government figures with rain expected to continue.

Bribie’s Foreshore to Receive $1.5 Million Upgrade
Bribie Island’s Bellara Foreshore is on the cards for a $1.5 million dollar upgrade as part of the State Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Package.
Councillor Brooke Savige said the foreshore is a beautiful natural space and just needs a bit of love.
Proposed plans for the upgrade will be released in the coming months for residents to have their feedback on and if successful, the project should be completed by two thousand and twenty four.
Gabba Gets Revamp in Wake of Olympic Announcement
The Queensland Government has a hefty plan to give the Gabba a big revamp, with a plan to make the site the main stadium for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Under initial plans unveiled by the Government, the Gabba would essentially be demolished and a $1 billion main Olympic oval stadium rebuilt in its place.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has previously stated that “Every Games needs a home, a home for the 2032 Olympic Paralympic Games could be its crowning glory.”
City Cycle Removal Commences
Over the next ten months City Cycle will be phased out of Brisbane to make way for an increase in electric bikes and e-scooters.
As users of the once popular City Cycle have diminished the council have made preparations since the start of the year to repeal the service. As of this morning it was announced that cycle station removals will begin commencement.
The announcement comes as newly introduced e-mobility business, Beam prepares to roll out their scooters across the city this week.
Prime Minister Rejects JobKeeper Reinstatement
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has conceded there have been “significant challenges” faced by the vaccination rollout, but rejects calls to reinstate JobKeeper.
Calls for the federal government to reinstate the JobKeeper wage subsidy scheme have been growing with almost half of all Australians under lockdown across the country.
The Prime minister digressed by saying that the challenges the nation faced last year when JobKeeper was launched are different to the challenges that are now being faced.
Netballers Stand Against Racism at Local Club
Nine Victorian netball players exit a local club in their stand against racism following an abhorrent slur used by their own teammate in an A-grade competition.
An incident took place this month during a local country A-grade netball game, as part of the Kyabram District League, located near Shepparton in regional Victoria.
An investigation has been concluded by the Ardmona Football Netball Club with the player in question receiving a life ban and a 'strong recommendation' that she attend Cultural safety training.
Argentina Introduces Gender-neutral Formal Identification Cards
Argentina has joined Canada, New Zealand and India following the announcement they have introduced gender-neutral formal identification cards.
President Alberto Fernandez said identities other than man and woman need to be respected.
President Fernandez had been an advocate for progressive social reforms, with his government legalising abortion last year.
