Rare footage of shark and whale feeding frenzies at Fraser Island-K'gari captured via drone

Shark and whale feeding frenzies have been filmed by drones off the shores of K'gari, Fraser Island in what is called the shark highway.

Sunshine coast university lecturer and shark expert Dr. Bonnie Holmes says while it was quite common for spinner sharks to feed in groups, it was not often seen by humans.

Protesters blocked a South Brisbane traffic call for support of pedestrian crossings

Peaceful Protestors blocked northbound traffic on Peel Street and the end of Hope Street in South Brisbane this morning . 

Protestors are calling for Council to install a zebra crossing in the vicinity of 15 Hope Street as a large number of residents with impaired mobility and vision live in that area.

7th Indigenous man dies in custody since March

An Indigenous man in Cessnock Correctional Centre has been pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in his cell yesterday.

This is the 7th Indigenous death in custody since March 2nd, The man's death will be subject to a coronial inquiry.

There have been over 470 Indigenous deaths in custody since the royal commission into deaths in custody concluded 30 years ago.
 

Australia announced a temporary ban on flights from India

PM Scott Morrison has announced a temporary ban on travel from India due to its rising coronavirus cases.

India recorded more than Three hundred and twenty thousand new cases on Tuesday with two thousand seven hundred and seventy one deaths. 

Australia is considering providing humanitarian assistance while hospitals across India are turning  away patients because of oxygen shortages.

A stockman fined $20,000 over deaths of more than a dozen animals

Darling Downs stockman Terence Oberle has pleaded guilty to 21 charges relating to animal cruelty in Toowoomba Magistrate Court yesterday.

He was given a $20,000 fine and a 10 year restriction on owning horses, except for the 6 that he currently owns.

Mr Oberle has a history of animal cruelty and had been convicted of four similar offences back in 2006.
