Eyehategod 15.11.2019
Eyehategod are long time veterans in the New Orleans sludge metal scene and are arguably one of the main pioneers of the genre. They were supported on November 15 by local band The Black Swamp and Sydney’s Black Rhino, who devoted EHG fans lapped up like cats on hot milk.
With songs like New Orleans is the New Vietnam, the band work a field of their own. They have fused southern rock, blues and doom influences and come up with their own mix.
Ocean Sleeper 30.11.2019
Three words sum up Ocean Sleeper’s performance at The Crowbar on Saturday night the 30th of November: loud, heavy and sold-out. The event kicked off by offering some of Melbourne’s finest heavy metal acts a venue to go toe-to-toe with the Brisbane heavy metal music scene.
Colie 1.12.2019
On Sunday 1 of December, Colie celebrated an exciting year of releases, industry recognition and artist development with a touching performance of her new release Half of What You Are at the Milk Factory Brisbane. The emerging songwriter was joined in her celebration by fellow North Queensland performers Boatkeeper and Dan Baker. The three performed to a warm and engaged Milk Factory audience.
Genesis Owusu 15.11.2019
On Friday November 15, W Hotels Brisbane in collaboration with Mixcloud presented a fusion of visual art and music with their “Future Rising” initiative. Established in 2016, the main aim of the initiative is to ‘champion emerging creative voices and amplify culture across the globe’. W Hotels Brisbane delivered a synthesis of rap artistry orchestrated by Genesis Owusu in synchrony with visuals by experimental creative collection, Tszuj.
Dyson Stringer Cloher, Jodi Phillis 09.11.2019
It was an evening of angelic voices; and what a line-up! Before the talented trio of Mia Dyson, Liz Stringer and Jen Cloher were joined on stage by Augie March drummer Dave Williams, we were treated to an opening set from The Clouds’ Jodi Phillis.
Rat!Hammock 14.11.2019
I attended Melbourne’s RAT!hammock show in Brisbane with great eagerness and high expectations. I had been hooked on RAT!hammock's dreamy brand of pop-rock since the first time I heard June on our very own 4ZZZ many months ago.
