The top Queensland business body is calling for transparency around the 2032 Olympic Games.

Gus Mandigora, the senior policy advisor for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland, said that businesses need procedures to engage with the government.

Mr Mandigora is concerned about the ability of small businesses to bid for Olympics-related projects.

A busy intersection in the heart of Maroochydore's entertainment precinct is set for an upgrade. 

The proposed upgrade followed concerns raised by police about pedestrian safety along Horton Parade, between Ocean Street and Cornmeal Parade.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said design had started on the $1.8 million-dollar project to make the intersection safer for all road users.
