Tesla's Big Battery Under Fire
Tesla is being sued by the Australian Energy Regulator after its South Australian mega battery allegedly fails to assist the power grid in times of catastrophe.
After a Queensland coal plant failure in 2019, the 150-megawatt battery failed to provide short notice energy supply, leading to a power outage across South Australia.
The state was using Tesla batteries after CEO Elon Musk promised to provide them for free if not installed in 100 days.
Moderna Arrives in Aussie Pharmacies
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be rolled out to over 1,800 pharmacies across the nation this week, becoming Australia’s 3rd available vaccine.

WHO Changes Air Quality Guidelines
The World Health Organisation has updated its Air Quality Guidelines after new data shows air pollution contributes to over 7 million premature deaths a year.
The guidelines had not been updated since 2005, with WHO claiming they now possess a strong enough body of evidence to change the restrictions on air pollution.
In 2019, more than 90% of the world’s population lived in areas that exceeded air pollution densities set by the 2005 guidelines.

The positive case was a reality TV show crew member who travelled from Sydney to Byron Bay under a work exemption.
The 31-year-old attended several non-essential venues, violating the conditions of her permit and triggering the 7-day lockdown for the Byron region that began last night.
Carved Mussel Shells discovered in Murray Riverlands
Carved mussel shells found in the Murray Riverlands of South Australia could provide insight into technologies used by First Nations peoples.
Archaeology Professor Amy Roberts says the shells represent a huge timespan, showing how busy the area was to the local Ngarrindjeri people over thousands of years.
One shell with a serrated edge, believed to be more than six thousand years old, was possibly used as an eating utensil, while others may have been merely ornamental.
